Who Is Really Responsible?
So who is responsible for this stock market mess? Is it the greed of the people at Wall Street? Is it Washington and it’s failure to properly oversee Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac?
All of the above are responsible some would say. After all Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac forced lenders to provide sub-prime loans to people who didn’t have the credit score to obtain a mortgage loan. Why? Because according to them everyone has the right to buy a home. I’m sorry but that just isn’t true. The Constitution only says that as a citizen you have the right to pursue the American dream, it doesn’t say that the government will provide the means or even that you, as a citizen will have the American dream. So the blame game starts at Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, right?
Or maybe it’s Washington D.C.? Two years ago John McCain told Congress that Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac were headed for serious trouble and plans needed to be made to prop up these two quasi-governmental agencies. But the oversight committee turned a blind eye and did nothing, and hence Congress didn’t heed the warning? Why? Could it be that Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac’s officers made substantial contributions to the committee’s leader and to Senator Obama, plus others. In fact, only the committee head received more money than Obama. So was Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac buying time quite literally?
So the loans were made to unqualified candidates, who over two years defaulted on the loans letting the banks holding the debt. And the defaults went right up the line. This is what caused AIG to crash and the market to go through this downturn, and then thankfully the upturn after the government bailout of AIG, and then the bailout of the market as a whole today.
So now the taxpayer is on the hook for that roughly estimated $585 billion buyout. Count on our taxes going up. But who is to blame?
The idiots who earn $40,000 or less, trying to buy houses that cost $150,000 to $200,000 in these unsure times. These people knew they couldn’t afford it, yet the signed the documents. I have no problem with the people that are struggling to pay that bill they made for themselves, but I do blame the one’s that defaulted on their loans, causing all this mess; the market collapse and the market buyout by the government.
These consumers ought to be held responsible, and quite honestly I think they ought to be cut off from goverment aid.
The 545 People Responsible
Recently on one website that I belong to, someone posted an article supposedly written by Charley Reese of the Orlando Sentinel, having to do with blaming Congress for the current state of affairs. No date was referenced, but what peeked my interest were these comments near the end of the article.
If the Army & Marines are in IRAQ , it’s because they want them in IRAQ .
If they do not receive social security, but are on an elite retirement plan not available to the people, it’s because they want it that way. (and at the very end)
We should vote all of them out of office and clean up their mess!
This just didn’t sound like the same person writing but rather someone with an agenda. So I did a little digging in the Orlando Sentinel archives and after a 5 second search got this information: Read more
