What is it about the sound of rain ?  Right now I’m in the middle of a thunder and lightning storm with the rain just pouring down.   And I find it so calming.  If it wasn’t lightning I would probably go for a walk, it’s warm enough.  And intermittently the thunder and lightning subsides and the rain becomes lighter, playing a tip-tap rhythm on my roof.  It’s just peaceful and calming.

During rains like this I can remember sitting on my grandparents’ porch at the farmhouse and watching summer storms with them on a warm summers evening.  I wish I could still do that.  Unfortunately my grandfather passed away a few years back, and my grandmother (according to the doctor) is in her last stage of this life.  I got this news last week.  But overall I’m not really shocked or surprised by it.  She’s lived a long life, she’s lived a good life.  She’s impacted a lot of people’s lives for the good, she was and is a great grandmother, and I will miss her.  But I know right now physically she is in a lot of pain.  I pray for her peace and comfort above all else.  I wish she could hear this rain storm with me right now, she would enjoy it, because we enjoyed a few rain storms together when I was growing up.

Grandma, I love you.  I don’t say it often enough.
