Logitech’s Harmony 880
Logitech named this remote appropriately. This remote allows the user to control their home entertainment system by complete tasks rather than individually controlling the components making up the home entertainment system.
For instance, you have hi-definition cable that sends video to your TV through Input #1 and audio through your sound system. After setup, press Watch TV, and your cable box is turned on, your TV is turned on and to the correct input channel, and your sound system is turned on and the correct audio input is selected. Just press channel up/down and volume up down as needed.
If you need to control any device in your home theather you can do that to.
Setup is easy. Gather all your equipment info (manufacturer and model numbers), and how your cables between devices are routed. Go through the web setup, update the remote and then test your setup. If there are problems, the remote helps you to get it corrected.
And the best part? There is now harmony in my family, and I don’t have to setup the home entertainment system everytime my family wants to watch a DVD. Just press Watch DVD and off we go.
Not bad for $180.
